Great Game July 30, 2010 Adam Coltes Graphics are great, very interesting storyline. As others have said if you like God of War you will enjoy this. Not sure what game the one guy was playing who said you can't take 5 steps without going to a cut scene because this is not true. There is a scene in between each level and when you get to important story points that is it.
gift July 19, 2010 Judy C. Jennings (yanceyville nc usa) this game was a gift for my husband, he loves it. once you beat it you can go again for new adventures, so its never the same. one of his favorites
Good for beginners too July 16, 2010 D-mented Kitty OK, I am not an expert gamer, and as a 28 year-old female without too much background in gaming, I decided to get a PSP to pass the time. I normally play those kiddie-friendly PSP games (e.g. LocoRoco, Katamari, Little Big Planet - you get my idea), but then one day I decided to get some hack & slash game for a change. I didn't want to jump into the most complicated one, and I wanted to get something that doesn't have a long playing time. I was contemplating on GOW or Dante's. Since my husband was still playing his GOW, I decided to get Dante's Inferno. I wasn't disappointed.
I tried the classic level first - as this is the easiest level, and the tutorials were great - for a first-timer on this type of game I was able to get used to the controls. Eventually I got hooked and played the game to the end, despite a lot of curses shouted because this game seems to have a lot of climb, jump and grab, and also falling floors from which I tend to die more often than with the boss fights, lol...
I admit the storyline and controls are somewhat very similar to GOW, but this is still worth playing. From here at least I know I am able to move forward with more hack & slash adventures with my PSP.
Unfortunately, I cannot return this game. June 4, 2010 bon_iccal 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
In reality this game is simply one large, boring cartoon. Your character cannot move five paces without activating a cinema sequence. What little game play that is allowed has a camera angle so tight you cannot discern what your character is actually doing. You can press random buttons and the game basically plays itself, and when you do defeat an enemy you activate a cinema sequence. Cinema sequence, after cinema sequence, after cinema sequence. You are actually paying 40 dollars for a very low budget and painfully boring American cartoon. This is a game without any game play. This title should be listed under `animation' not `video games'. I have seen it stated that many people are comparing this game to `God of War: Chains of Olympus', but I see no relevant similarity. `God of War' was a beautifully rendered example of modern art with continuous game play. `Dante's Inferno' has hardly any game play, and I have seen better animation on `Adult Swim'. This game, and I use the term `game' loosely, is an absolute embarrassment for EA. Atari created better games for the Jaguar! This program may function adequately on Xbox, but the PSP version is an expensive joke. It is highly unlikely I will purchase another EA game.
If you like God of War, you'll enjoy this game. May 23, 2010 KMS As other reviewers have already noted, this game is very similar to God of War. The biggest place where this game differs from God of War is that it has fewer enemies and more environmental hazards (jumping from moving platform to moving platform, rope swinging, etc.). The game is overall quite fun, but I gave it only 4 stars because there are some parts that get very frustrating (requiring perfect timing swinging from rope to rope... miss one and you start the sequence all over again).
