3 out of 5 stars Nice Tin Metal Case, but Probably Better for the PSP 1000 Series ("fatter" models)!   December 8, 2008

This review is for; PSP Star Wars Protect Kit

I bought this Star Wars Protect Kit case for my slim, white, Darth Vader edition PSP (PSP 2000 series) to keep the Star Wars theme and it does fit, but since this case was also designed for the original PSP 1000 series ("fatter" models) there is some slight, empty space at the top of the case when closed. I just inserted a soft, cleaning cloth over the top of my PSP when stored inside my case. The manufacturer's packaging states that this case is compatible with the PSP models 1000 (fat) and 2000 (slim). I can only assume the new PSP 3000 model which is also slim will fit as well, but I don't have one. The case has a tin-metal, exterior finish with colorful graphics and the interior has black, semi-soft, molded, foam padding.

The case doesn't have any pockets to hold any extra UMD discs, but there are two memory card slots (Pro Duo sized) recessed at the bottom of the case that would fit below the game. Honestly, I think most people only use one memory card for their PSP anyways so I personally believe this feature is a wasted effort (I'd rather have extra UMD storage slots!). The bottom of the case where the game goes is molded to fit the game very snugly with the outer left and right buttons (buttons L & R) slightly pressed during storage. In fact, the case holds the game almost too tightly because the battery door has a tendancy to stick to the case when I separate the PSP from the case (a minor problem I solved by storing the PSP screen down in the case). Initially it doesn't look like my slim PSP will rattle around loosely when the cover is closed because of the tightness. There is a spring-loaded front button to open the case. My only concern about that spring-loaded button is will it pop open if I drop the case? The exterior of the case has a really nice, tin-metal finish featuring game graphics of the Star Wars Unleashed game with Darth Vader and his apprentice on the top cover. The bottom cover is just plain black. As far as dimensions, the oval shaped case is approximately 7.750" X 3.750" while laying flat. Slightly wider & longer than the PSP itself. Modestly, the case also comes with one very thin, but soft brown cleaning cloth and two LCD screen protectors.

Overall I still like this case for what it is and it looks great, but the lack of UMD storage slots and the slight oversize in thickness as well as width/length might be considerations about whether anyone else would want to buy it. This case basically just holds the game and two memory cards, but nothing much more yet looks great for Star Wars fanatics!
