Buyer Beware October 25, 2008 The_Gamevault (NJ) This game while it should be an extremely fun game is absolutely marred by some of the worst programing the psp has ever seen. If you own a psp slim, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, it will freeze up on you. Simply put if you want to buy a game that does not work right then Driver '76 is for you, if you want to save your hard earned cash and put it towards another worthwhile psp game that you can actually play, the psp has a vast library of worthwhile titles.
FREEZE FRAME WELL NOW FREEZE... October 25, 2008 TOM (MISSOURI) EVER HERE THAT SONG FREEZE FRAME FROM J GILES BAND, SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE SOUND TRACK, WHY, CAUSE THATS ALL THE DAME GAMES GOOD FOR FREEZING... ANYWAYS IF YOU HAVE A PSP SLIM DONT BUY THIS GAME,DONT BUY THIS GAME ANYWAYS, GOOD LUCK IF YOU DO.............
This game will get your PSP smokin' July 16, 2007 P. Webb (Bozeman, MT United States) As good as GTA and its incarnations are I believe Driver got there first with the original Missions behind the wheel adult 3-D gameplay, that and Carmageddon with its endless pedestrian smooshing. Whoever got there first Driver '76 for the PSP continues in the vein of adult themed gaming set in a seedy underworld, this time circa that glorious era of the mid 70s. The soundtrack here is great with reworkings of David Bowies, Blondie etc, the music really adds to the game especially if you turn it off once in awhile so you don't tire of the tunes. Graphics are what you'd expect for the PSP the urban locales of NYC are accurately (geographicaly even) portrayed. The missions are varied and interesting (some a little short) and the unlockables that can be traded between systems are a cool extra. The racing missions are another added bonus but they are tricky as you will get bounced all over the track without some modifications to your ride. I do experience a little freeze up when cruising the city occasionally but checking out the Manhattan skyline at dawn always makes me forgive this little engine. As a prequel to Parallel Lines this might be the better game.
One of the more fun games on the PSP June 21, 2007 captainspankypants 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
At first this seems like it might be a Grand Theft Auto clone, since you can get out of your car, shoot people, steal cars, etc. The emphasis is about 90% on driving though, so it really is significantly different. Thank goodness the driving is handled so well. The game engine provides the 1970s action movie car chase feeling very well, and doing powerslides through back alleys with the cops on your tail is a blast. The graphics are decent and the loading times aren't bad, so if you like cheesy car chase movies, this is definitely the game to get.
it has it all May 14, 2007 Christian Nielsen (ridge ny) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
at first it seemed like i had played this game before . grand theft auto. but it does have a nice twist. this game is a combination of grand theft auto , pursuit force and a live action comic book. the graphics are great and there is enough intense game play to hold your attention it also has a nice time travel twist as it takes you back to 1976 . one of the best games out there now. christian j nielsen
