Easy to pickup and use March 10, 2010 J. Ream This game has been around for a few years but still plays fine. If you enjoy poker then it's hard to go wrong with this one. The main issues with this game are the poor graphics for the announcers, repetition of speech with both the announcers and players. After the first play I end up fast forwarding thru the all the repetition.
Good game. December 14, 2009 Nick I recommend this game. The graphics aren't good, though, they're actually kind of weird, but I guess that doesn't matter much if you're a true poker player; you're basically looking for a challenging match. Well, this game is pretty challenging, and has plenty of tournaments, including the WSOP main event for "10,000" entry fee. It has more than 10,000 players so it will take you many hours of play to finish it. I have tried both the PSP version and the XBOX (both are good), but haven't tried the PC one, which is probably pretty bad. All of the WSOP versions are translated horribly to PC games.
A nice little poker title for the PSP!!! Lots of fun!!! March 25, 2007 Jason Pumphrey (Falls Church, Virginia United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Great Game, but graphics are lacking July 29, 2006 Connor James 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you love poker, buy this game. Don't even read the rest of this review, just simply buy it. If all you want is an easy and fun way to play poker I highly recommend WSOP for the PSP. If, however, you are looking for amazing, mind blowing graphics, pass this up. Lets face it, this is no Socom Fireteam Bravo when it comes to graphics. But if you can get past that, and the fact that the commentaries are dull and repetitive, then you have a very good game.
I love poker so this was a great title to me. The Career mode is VERY lengthy. You will probably spend days getting through the main WSOP event, which is made up off, on average, 6000+ competitors, of which you probably play 75 to 100 of. There are also a number of other tournaments for you to play, such as Omaha, texas hold em, and seven card stud. I also liked being able to customize my player, even if it isn't the deepest character creator I've seen.
Another commen problem is the AI, which are often very dumb and predictable (for instance, every time they touch both hands to there chin while thinking, they are bluffing.)
Even if you don't know how to play Texas Hold em (or Razz, Omaha, etc.) you will most likly pick it up very quickly. Any time during game play you can click R1 to what hand beats the other hand.
Lastly, if you are not sure you want to buy the game, rent it. WSOP on the PSP makes for a good multiplayer game, but there are so many missing elements, that your love of poker has to outway your dislike of this game. Replay value is what pulled the trigger for me to pay twenty dollars for this game and I have enjoyed it.

If only career mode offered some things from World Championship Poker 2 January 4, 2006 Robert Burghard (Deer Park, New York) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I honestly hoped a bit more from this game alot of people perfer this game over World Championship Poker 2. However what this game does not offer is a system to improve poker stats like in world championship poker 2. Graphics are also not as good as world championship poker 2. However this game does have alot of pluses in career mode for instance the are lots and lots of tournaments you can enter. In career mode in World Championship Poker 2 not all the times you can choose which game you want to play some weeks texas holdem might be avaiable then some weeks it may not. Gameplay is much more enjoyable when you dont have to play poker games you dont like playing. Another thing i love about this game is all the details they give you about the tournaments you are like like they will tell you how many people are in it and they will tell you what you have to at least place to win prize money.
