God of War: Chains of Olympus: Before he waged war on the gods...he was forced to serve themThe third game in the God of War franchise, God of War: Chains of Olympus for PlayStation Portable is a prequel to the first two games in the series published for PlayStation 2, and true the high standards of God of War and God of War II, not only does it equal the efforts of its predecessors, in some ways it may even surpass them.

View larger. | Kratos' Story The God of War franchise tells the tragic and violent story of the warrior Kratos and his dealings with the gods. The ancient world would eventually both praise and damn the infamous `Ghost of Sparta' as the mortal who slayed a god, but long before his battle with Ares, Kratos sought absolution from his past sins by pledging himself as a champion to the gods. These brutal crusades in the name of Olympus became legendary, but would have far-reaching consequences. In Chains of Olympus Kratos is pushed to the edge as he is ordered by the gods to journey to the very depths of the underworld after the world plunges into darkness. There he must face the most feared creatures of Greek mythology and is forced to choose between his own personal redemption and saving the ancient world from certain destruction. It is a choice that will shake the immortals from their perches on Mt. Olympus.God of War's Epic Gameplay Comes to the PSP PlayStation Portable has always been head and shoulders above its competitors in the handheld market when it comes to processing power, and in God of War: Chains of Olympus the PSP platform may just have reached its highest level to date. Packed with features like dramatic camera angles, epic set pieces, cinematic cut scenes, stirring audio and seamless fast action gameplay, formerly only available on console platforms Chains of Olympus binds players to the game's epic adventure, regardless where they are when they join in the action.Combat Moves, Both Old and New Nearly as defining as the name of Kratos itself, the trademark sweeping attack moves of the `Ghost of Sparta' using his weapon of choice the `Blades of Chaos,' epitomizes all God of War games and Chains of Olympus is no exception.Although overall the PSP has fewer buttons than the PlayStation 2 controller, developer Ready at Dawn Studios has managed to incorporate nearly all of the attack moves and combination moves from previous games in the series into this new project. This continuity in gameplay not only provides a seamless intro into the game for veteran players, but a gentle learning curve for players new to the series. Add to this new brutal combat moves and an additional upgradable weapon and you have a combat system that will engage players at all levels.Exploration and Puzzle Solving From the bright gates of Attica to the darkest dungeons of Tartarus, Kratos' journey and your own will take you through the dark and brutal world of Greek mythology. Here not only will your skill with the Blades of Chaos be tested, but your wits as well.As you explore the dangers of the ancient world, players must be prepared to use their navigational skills as they press on through labyrinths of challenging puzzles. Some may be simple tests at manipulating the game's environment to your advantage, while others much more difficult also requiring precision timing of moves, but each will be different and test you in new ways.An Evolution in Franchise History More than just a missing piece in the history of the God of War franchise, Chains of Olympus also serves as an evolutionary link between the origins of the God of War franchise and its future. Originally developed for PlayStation 2, the future of the franchise is slated to make its arrival on PlayStation 3 in the form of the highly anticipated God of War III in the not too distant future. Not only is PlayStation Portable designed to work in unison with PlayStation 3 in many ways, but both long-time fans and newcomers to the series who choose to watch and play Chains of Olympus carefully may very well pick up clues as to the direction the franchise will be heading in with God of War III.Regardless, whether you find yourself playing for the current chapter in Kratos' saga or preparing yourself for the battles to come on the PlayStation 3, God of War: Chains of Olympus is a must have title for any current owner of a PSP or those consid ering getting in the handheld game with one.

Awesome Game Pak August 28, 2008 Bryan R. Smith (Okemos, MI USA) Product came as promise. Very quick delivery. Would recommend this company and will try to use again.
good times August 26, 2008 the great (any where the army takes me) this is a great buy psp is an amazing handheld system and the god of war game is really cool. it has out standing graphics, intuitive controls, and is one of the best games i've played (assassins creed being the best so far ever) would be a great way to start yourself off into the portable gaming craze of today. the psp is an amazing device with great features such as internet browsing mp4 play back and photo viewer it cant be beat by any other portable gaming device on the market every one should have one of these makes long days go by a lot quicker.
PSP Review August 25, 2008 L. M. Crist (Cartersville, Georgia United States) The product was intended for my 7-year old's birthday and she loves it. It has good graphics and is easy for her to work with. She should get a few good years out of it!
I almost gave it four stars . . August 25, 2008 gram parsons (Tuscaloosa, AL USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
But as I thought about it more, I can only give it three. I've played and owned all the sytems: XBOX and XBOX 360, PS3, the GameCube and Wii, the DS and now this is our second PSP (I wanted one of my own--I originally bought the Star Wars bundle for my kid).
The good: This is a high quality product, much like the PS3. I'm an XBOX fanboy probably but the quality of the Sony gaming devices cannot be denied. It's nice to hold in your hand. It's well put together. It's attractive.
The screen is absolutely fantastic. I bought a DS for myself and gave it to the kids because it just felt too "old tech." I don't care about touch screens. The PSP screen is the best I've seen in handheld gaming.
The bad:
The PSP loses its first (of five) stars for AWFUL CONTROLS. I appreciate their inclusion of the thumbstick--but to exclude the other? And the location of the thumbstick? I STILL haven't figured out how to hold it comfortably (in my fingertips? Pressed against my palms?). Maybe one of the grips would help.
The second star loses because of the game selection. I don't want scaled down versions of games I've already played on the XBOX 360. I bought this on a whim for Space Invaders Extreme, a fantastic game. Was recommended Killzone, and find it intolerable. Thankfully, another recommendation, Syphon Filter Dark Mirror turned out to be a pleasant revelation--I'm actually thoroughly enjoying that and wish others were more like it. I don't like all the button mashing action games (read: God of War.
So, overall, it's a VERY nice device, with a less than stellar control scheme (comfort wise), and a less than stellar catalog of games (for my tastes).
I don't regret buying it at all--just wish there were more games for it.

Just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It literally takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you, this is 100% real. I wouldn't jeopardize my eBay account status if this was a scam. My feedback is real and I will answer you on any question! Here is what you do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). This is not like other sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3 different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with nothing else to buy...No commitments!!!
There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use them to get a free iPod or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 4 week free trial and it is free!). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you. After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 5-13 people (depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link (just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your referrals before the auction even ends.)
Then they will ship your free PS3 or your selected item for free, I chose the PS3. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all the referrals. All you have to do is post it on EBAY or any message boards, blogs, face book, my space or any place you hang out at. ! They use us as advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you want.
